First New Zealand Burd Family

Walter Clement & Elizabeth Cooper Burd arrived in New Zealand by the Sailing Ship 'St. Kilda' in 1873, accompanied by their young family of 2 sons, Walter Clement (about 2yrs) and Arthur James (about 1yr).

They originally settled in Timaru, then later moved to Christchurch and then to Petone.

The original family grew over these years to include 12 children, 10 in-laws, and numerous grand-children, although, unfortunately, not all survived.
